The
Josefina de Vasconcellos Arts Care Trust is a fully Registered
Charity, No. 1119354, set up in honour of the work and ideals
of Josefina de Vasconcellos, MBE.
The objectives of the Trust are: 1.the advancement of education
in the work of Josefina de Vasconcellos for the benefit of the
public .
2. The advancement of education of young people
by providing student exchanges between the UK and overseas.
3. The relief of financial need and sickness .
Much
of Josefina's work was the basis for projects to benefit other
people. Her desire was to give them new opportunities and outlets
to develop skills and talents, to overcome difficulties, not
only in the arts, but through them to new vistas.
Josefina died in 2005 at the age of one hundred, leaving behind
fine examples of her work throughout the world. The work by which
she is best known is her sculpture, but she was, as well, an
accomplished poet, painter and composer.
The
Charity is striving to work with people of all ages, cultural
and educational backgrounds, in the community, continuing this
work in the areas of the arts and of caring skills and attitudes.
