Shawn Williamson was pupil and assistant to Josefina de Vasconcellos for many years.
Shawn met Josefina in 1985 after art college and went on to work with her on her great work.
Josefina mentored him in the spiritual aspects of both nature and the divine. A common factor in their relationship was trying to help other people through creative practice.

As time moved on Shawn had his own sculpture commissions throughout the United Kingdom. Learning from Josefina’s approach he returned to West Cumbria to set up sculpture workshops for disadvantaged groups in the community. Art helps many people become whole again. The good work was recognised by the British
Government through the Dept of Communities and Local government via Baroness Andrews.

More projects followed including the massive Herdwick Ram sculpture which was unveiled by HRH Prince Charles a major supporter of craft training for young people. Shawn never looses sight of the idea of
healing that can happen when people work together positively through art.
Shawn and Josfina linked with many international projects such as the Gorton Monastery Trust
The Sinclair Castles Trust in order to spread their message. “Art and crafts are important but people come first”
Other projects have followed and in 2008 Shawn was elected a fellow of the RSA for his work in communities. Shawn is very pleased to be working with the caring international ideals of the J de V arts care trust.
