Friends have already been bombarded with my theory that DNA is the best
basis for the human generated entity called God.
To explain, I mean that all life on Earth is based on the coding molecule
DNA. Without the life replicating molecules the planet would be as sterile
as the moon. So the very popular idea of a God or Gods can only exist thanks,
in a sense, to DNA. Without DNA there would be no humans to even come up
with the concept. And the DNA is a constant both in the past and going forwards
into the future. It runs as a thread through us all and all lifeforms.
Now in 2025 I may have to adjust my thinking and perhaps point to RNA, the sort of precursor for DNA. This article explains how the mystery of how the first DNA arose may be getting close to being solved by scientists. To quote part of the article: Life is separated from pure chemistry by information, a molecular memory encoded in the genetic material that is transmitted from one generation to the next, Philipp Holliger, the senior author of the study from MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, said in a press statement. For this process to occur, the information must be copied, i.e. replicated, to be passed on. Currently, the researchers have only been able to replicate roughly 17 percent of the RNA strand (roughly 30 out of 180 letters), but the team says theres no reason they wont achieve complete replication with improved enzyme efficiency. The researchers also note that this reaction cant occur in saltwater (the salt disrupts the freezing process), but geothermal freshwater lakes or ponds would be the perfect chemical setting for RNA replication to take hold. https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/environment/a64906716/rna-world-replication/?utm_source=firefox-newtab-en-gb
